About the Event

This is an incredible trip where you will visit an otherworldly place that looks like the setting of a Hobbit film or Harry Potter.

In fact, it WAS the setting for Harry Potter's Deathly Hallows. Wut?! Mind blown.

Malham Cove and Gordale Scar in the Yorkshire Dales has been voted Britain's third favourite hiking trail for a good reason. Both are huge canyons with a waterfall running through and they are quite majestic.

This hike is quite hard and includes a grade 2 scrambling, which is tons of fun if you are fit. There is no alternative for an easier route, so beware!

On day 2 we visit the tallest waterfall in Britain. Whoop!

ITINERARY

FRIDAY

Meet at 9 am at Kings Cross Station.

Drive straight to Yorkshire Dales with stops for pictures and to explore, then we check in our house and go out for dinner.

SATURDAY

Jannet's Foss, Fairy Waterfall, Gordale Scar and Malham Cove

TECHNICAL NOTE:

Distance: 14 miles / 20 km

Total Ascent: 600 meters / 2000 feet

Difficulty: Hard

Scrambling: Level 2

This is the one! Britain voted as the top 3 best trail because is full of incredible and otherworldly sights.

Jannet's Foss is an easy stroll leading us to the Fairy Waterfalls, where on a hot day a quick dip is quite welcome.

From there we reach Gordale Scar, an incredible canyon right out of an epic adventure film. Here we will do a grade 2 scrambling up the gorge leading us to an amazing plateau.

If the rocks are too slippery we might have to take a different route.

The hike ends at Malham Cove, an unforgettable canyon visited by Harry Potter with a waterfall, limestone floor and free-roaming cows.

SUNDAY

High Force Waterfall - Britain's tallest waterfall

TECHNICAL

Distance: 8 miles

Ascent: 100 metres

Difficulty: Easy to moderate

Scrambling: None

High Force is the highest waterfall in Britain with a drop of over 70 feet!

The water is blood red as a result of the soil composition and the rush of water is louder than your London nightclub.

This is a beautiful walk along the river which contains other smaller waterfalls.
