About the Event
The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path was the first National Trail in Wales – opened in 1970.
The southern trail of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path offers incredible views with a few options for a dip in the ocean. In fact, this trail crosses at least 3 beautiful sandy beaches, then takes us back up to red cliffs and past a castle!
On Sunday, we will hop on a speedboat for an epic trip to Skomer Island where we snap pictures of puffins and other birds from the ocean, and if we are lucky we might see dolphins, seals and even whales!
The puffin is one of the country's favourite birds and there are few better places to see them than on Skomer Island.
The puffin is unmistakable; once seen, never forgotten. With its beautiful markings, strikingly coloured bill and almost comic gait it is a bird that has endeared itself to millions. Though often known as a sea parrot, locally in Northumberland, the bird is known as a 'Tommy noddy'. It is a member of the auk family, alongside guillemots and razorbills - also present on the Islands.
We will have chances to go for a quick swim in the sea during our hikes, so don't forget your swimming suit and a light towel in your backpack :-)
