Lake District - Helvellyn and Striding Edge - Spa Hotel

Helvellyn is so much more than England’s third-highest mountain, and it was no surprise when this route was voted Britain’s Favourite Walk in a 2017 ITV poll.

A thrilling mountain route for walkers who like living life on the edge. Helvellyn’s ridges are exciting, and a little bit scary, but great fun too.

An ascent of this 950m peak via the narrow ridge of Striding Edge is one of Britain’s most iconic mountain challenges, mixing hill walking with scrambling on a spectacular route that requires the use of hands in a few places – and a good head for heights!

IMPORTANT: If you aren’t comfortable with heights or exposed mountain terrain, this trip may not be suitable for you. 

ITINERARY

SATURDAY

Make your way to Oxenholme Lake District Station (option to take the 6 am train from Euston Station)

• 10 am arrive at the station and meet the minibus
• 10:30 am leave straight to our hike in Helvellyn, with a quick stop to buy a packed lunch
• 7 pm dinner and check-in our hotel

SUNDAY

• 9 am Breakfast
• 10 am Leave for our hike to Loughrigg
• 2 pm Drive back to London with 2 or 3 service station stops
• 7 pm Estimated time to arrive in London
