About the Event

COVID 19 - This event is fully refundable if cancelled by us for any reason or if government restrictions so requires.

The government has confirmed that overnight stays are possible in a camping facility from 12th April. 

Please note that there will be no toilets or showers in the camping site, we will have to improvise. A portable toilet will be available in the minibus.

Visit the hidden side of Dartmoor to Wistman's Wood, a creepy forest made of stunted oakwood trees, the valleys of Teign, Drogo Castle and of course to hike up a tor and see wild ponies!

Come with us on this breathtaking trip for slow-paced hikes in the fresh air where you will have time to take pictures of rivers, Tors, ponies, waterfalls, valleys, bridges and a castle.

Friday will be in a service station on the way to the camping site

Saturday will be take-away from a local restaurant/pub

Friday

6 pm meet and drive to our camping site

10 pm - arrival at our camping site and set up

Saturday

Wistman's Wood, Tors and Moors circular walk

HIKE TECHNICAL NOTE:

Distance: 9 miles / 15 km

Total Ascent: 500 meters / 1500 feet

Difficulty: Moderate - some steep inclinations

Length: 6 hours

Wistman’s Wood

Wistman's Wood is an amazing and beautiful group of stunted oak trees growing among granite boulders. The wood is famous for its twisted and weathered dwarf trees, covered in mosses and lichens.

Sunday

River Teign, Fingle Gorge and Fingle Bridge

TRAILS TECHNICAL NOTES:

Distance: 6 miles/ 9.5 km

Total Ascent: 400 metres/ 1300 feet

Difficulty: Moderate - some steep inclinations

Length: 5 hours

Ride to London after the hike

WHAT TO BRING

Must have:

· Tent - preferably a popup one for easy set up in the dark

· Sleeping bag

· Sleeping mat

· Warm layers for sleeping and hiking

· Waterproof jacket

· Waterproof overtrousers

· Waterproof Hiking shoes or trail running shoes - it will could be very muddy!

· Backpack (you will thank yourself if you bring one with a waist belt)

· Hiking or gym clothes

ATTENTION:

1 - Refunds are not possible even if you fall ill with COVID. Please make sure you have travel insurance before the trip starts so you can recover any loss. If we can resell your place after all seats are sold we will try to do so.

Please do not attend if you are feeling unwell.

2 - It is your responsibility to ensure you check messages on this event and private messages sent to you before the trip starts and up to the morning of the trip.

On occasions, meeting location, time and other details might have to be changed and the event could also be cancelled last minute in case of extreme weather or other unexpected events.

3 - As with any road trips, there is a chance of heavy traffic, accidents and break-downs which could force us to skip parts of the trip, or stop it completely. We will do our best to make your day better, and of course to avoid any of these, but we expect your understanding on these occasions.
