Snowdon is the highest mountain in England and Wales, towering over the region at a height of 1085m.

Loved for its drama and majesty, the mountain attracts swathes of visitors hoping to conquer it all year round.

Like much of the Welsh countryside, Snowdon is steeped in history and myth. Its name derives from the Old English meaning ‘snow hill’, but its Welsh name (Yr Wyddfa) means tumulus, or barrow – an ancient burial mound. It is said that the mountain was created as the burial mound for Rhitta Gawr, the legendary giant defeated by King Arthur. In another twist to the Arthurian myth, the nearby lake of Glaslyn is said to have been the final resting place of Excalibur and the site at which Arthur himself was carried off to Avalon.

Snowdon is a mountain shaped by fire and ice. Its origins may be volcanic, but its distinctive peak was shaped by glaciers, like much of the Snowdonia range. Today, it is an important area of conservation, home to a delicate ecosystem and populated by beautiful flora and fauna.

VELOCITY 2 - ZIPLINE

Velocity 2 will take you zooming down a 1.5-kilometre zip line, providing you with up to 2 hours of incredible adventure. With 4 parallel lines over 2 separate zip lines.

If you’re a spectator - or want to relax after your adventure - delicious food and drink are available at the bistro-style Blondin Restaurant.

The restaurant enjoys almost the same stunning views of Snowdonia as the zip line and is the perfect way to complete your experience!

Alternatively, why not try out the UK’s only Quarry Karts, the UK’s only mountain cart experience, seeing gravity-fuelled three-wheelers descend an obstacle-filled 3-kilometre slate track?

ITINERARY

SATURDAY

7:45 am - Meet near Hammersmith Station and leave at 8 am

Drive 5 hours plus two service station stops.

2 pm - Arrive at Snowdon and hike for 3 hours

4 pm - Try not to die and call your mum for a cry

5 pm - Summit Snowdon and cry again when you realise you have to walk back down

9 pm - Collapse and roll on the floor back at the beginning of the trail

9:10 pm - Check into the hostel, shower your stinky body, dine and sleep on top of each other

SUNDAY

8 am - Breakfast and leave straight after

9 am - Arrive at ZipWorld and have fun on the zip-lines, or sit and enjoy the views.

Midday - Eat at the cafe in the ZipWorld, then drive back to London

8 pm - The latest time we should be back in London, but hopefully earlier

Meals are not included to facilitate for those who prefer to bring their own food or who have special requirements. The hostel has a lovely self-catering kitchen.

The hostel also serves hot and cold breakfasts, plus dinners.
