Ditch the British cold and dark weather to the sunny, 20+ Celsius of the early spring in south Portugal!

On this trip, you will stay at a superb apartment in a resort a short walk from Meia Praia sandy beach. The resort has a swimming pool with a bar and is located in the idyllic town of Lagos with beautiful beaches and, more importantly, some beautiful hiking trails for hikers.

We will be doing a long cliff hike along the coast with incredible views that shadows our Jurassic Coast. Halfway through the hike, we stop at a seaside restaurant for some cheap wine and lovely Portuguese food.

At the end of the hike, we go back to our place where you can finally enjoy the beach.

We will also do a local town walk to admire the Portuguese colourful and romantic architecture, stopping at a small back street restaurant used mainly by the locals where they serve fish caught that morning by a small fishing boat. Talk about sustainability!

We will join a local guide for a kayak tour of some secret beaches including the one shown in the picture. This is not included in the fee and will be agreed upon with you separately as not everyone is keen in kayaking.

You must have a good head for heights as we will walk over some narrow cliff edges

A single or shared twin room in a two or three-bedroom resort apartment

WHAT TO BRING

- A waterproof jacket

- Hiking or gym clothes. Opt for a variety of summery plus some warm layers

- Sunscreen

- Lounging clothes for dinners and exploring the town

- Comfortable shoes, one of which is a trainer of light trail shoes

- A backpack for the hike 

- Bring a max of a backpack and a cabin size suitcase as our minivan is quite small

- A swimming suit if you want to brave the cold ocean waters or the warm swimming pool waters :-)

ROUGH ITINERARY

Thursday

Fly to Faro airport, arriving by 10 pm

Our minivan will be waiting to pick you up from the airport to our accommodation

Drive for an hour to our apartment

Go to sleep - sorry there is nowhere to eat late at night in Lagos, so please make sure to eat something on your way, or we can try to find an open fast-food restaurant.

Friday

Wake up in Portugal!!!!

8 am Breakfast then leave straight for our hike

Hike 20 kilometres for 6 to 7 hours

Go back to our hotel and spend the rest of the day there, unless we finish our hike too early, in which case we can hop on the minivan and visit Sagres.

Saturday 

The times for these will be announced closer to the day

Kayaking - 2 hours

Walk Lagos and visit that backstreet restaurant

Part of the day will be spent by the beach if the weather is lovely.

Sunday

Check out the hotel after breakfast and drive to the airport

Sunday - Faro to Gatwick any flight AFTER 11 am

Entry Requirements in Portugal 

Fully vaccinated passengers

Portugal is open to fully vaccinated passengers and they are must show a negative COVID-19 test result. 

Passengers must ensure they meet the requirements to be considered fully vaccinated previously described.

Passengers must present proof of vaccination - The certificate/document may be requested at different points of the trip.

Astra Zeneca, Moderna and Pfizer are all accepted in Portugal.
