The Long Man and the Seven Sisters
Time & Location
About the Event
DETAILS : Join me on this proper hike with some of the most stunning views in England ! By now , you should have recovered from those months of inactivity and it is time to test yourselves on this 16 miles / 25 km journey that will make you sweat . We will begin in Polegate where we will visit the outstanding hills , home to the famous Long Man of Wilmington , one of the archeologic mysteries of Britain . This giant chalk figure could date back as early as the Bronze age or the Neolithic . We will then carry on through the hills , woods , nature reserves and villages of East Sussex while heading towards the sea that we will be able to see shining in the background . After we have reached the top of our last hill ,our efforts will be gifted with one of my personal favourite views in the country , the Cuckmere Meanders , a stunning valley where the river Cuckmere sneaks towards the sea , you could almost hear Vivaldi playing the four seasons while you are staring at this magical sight just before the apotheosis , o the most famous picture of the Seven Sisters cliffs . Our hike will terminate at Seaford where we will take the train back to London . This hike is one of the most varied as you will walk through a multitude of landscapes , countryside , woods , sea and riversides while we will be surrounded by history and nature along the way . Wildlife will also be part of the trip ,little egrets , rabbits and wading birds and who knows , we might even spot a barn owl towards the end of our trip as we will walk pass a few of the nest boxes that have been installed for their comfort .
