Time & Location
03 Sept 2022, 09:00 – 04 Sept 2022, 21:00
High Peak, Kinder Scout, High Peak S33 7ZJ, UK
About the Event
We drive in our party minibus to the Peak District where we will explore and hike the best sections in the area with one night of wild camping and either a sunset or sunrise hike.
What you will see and do this weekend hiking adventure:
Climb to the top of Mam Tor
Mam Tor is a 517 m (1,696 ft) hill. Its name means "mother hill", so called because frequent landslips on its eastern face have resulted in a multitude of "mini-hills" beneath it. These landslips, which are caused by unstable lower layers of shale, also give the hill its alternative name of Shivering Mountain.
Get your Insta photos at Winnats Pass
Winnats Pass, located to the west of Castleton, is an impressive limestone gorge in the White Peak area of the Peak District. Its name is short for ‘wind gates’ due to the constant swirling wind through the gorge.
We will take our time allowing you 15 minutes so you can take tons of pictures as you please.
Lead the Great Ridge
Great Ridge is a ridge separating the vales of Edale and Castleton. It extends for approximately 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) from Mam Tor at the western end of the ridge to Lose Hill at the eastern end, the lowest point being Hollins Cross.
Climb the epic Kinder Scout
Kinder Scout is a moorland plateau and national nature reserve in the Dark Peak of the Derbyshire Peak District in England. Part of the moor, at 636 metres above sea level, is the highest point in the Peak District, the highest point in Derbyshire, and the highest point in the East Midlands.
