About the Event
Come meet your new weird friends on another Mudafacas iconic trip!
The Lake District is a hauntingly beautiful corner of our planet and easily the most scenic place in England. The landscape is simply spellbinding: shadowy ridges gilded with golden light, shimmering meadows ablaze with wildflowers, and sparkling blue lakes that reflect the whole glorious scene.
The Lake District has some of the finest walking trails in the world and we will walk some of our favourite trails, plus throw in a few extra adventures.
WHAT YOU WILL SEE AND DO:
- Hike the marvellous Old Man of Coniston
- Hike the lowland walk of Elterwater with its many waterfalls
- Spend some free time in one of the LD villages

Meals are not included in the price.
The hostel has a self-catering kitchen where we can prepare our own meal or heat something in the microwave.
We will have a chance to sit together for dinners and have a good chat and maybe play some games.

Hike The Old Man of Coniston.
Old Man of Coniston Height: 803 m; 2634 ft
Distance: 6.5 miles; 10.5 km
Estimated Time: 5 to 6 hours
One of the best named fell walks in the Lake District, the Old Man of Coniston has an allure to hikers that goes beyond its unique title. Towering over the small town of Coniston, the fell draws the eye immediately.
It is a picturesque walk with tarns, sweeping valleys and remnants of old copper mines.
"Although cruelly scarred and mutilated by quarries, the Old Man has retained a dignified bearing and still raises his proud and venerable head to the sky. His tears are shed quietly into Low Water and Goats Water, two splendid tarns, whence, in due course... find their way into Coniston's lake, and there bathe his ancient feet." Alfred Wainwright, "A Pictorial Guide to the Lake Lake Fells, Book Four: The Southern Fells"
Wainwright said there were decayed skeletons along the track as well (from the miners, not hikers 😂)!
