About the Event
Hogmanay is what we Scots call New Year's Eve - 31 December - the big night that marks the arrival of the new year.
HOGMANAY IN EDINBURGH
Three days of fantastic atmosphere and unforgettable memories. It must be experienced to be believed!
What you will see and do:
30th DECEMBER - TORCHLIGHT PROCESSION
Join the revellers and get the party started!
In Scotland, New Year's carousing gets underway when thousands of torch-bearers join Up Helly Aa's Vikings, pipes and drums, and you will be one of the torch bearers at a point of the party.
Together, you will march through the heart of Edinburgh with flaming torches, creating a river of fire down the historic Royal Mile to Holyrood Park for the finale and closing celebrations.
31st DECEMBER - HOGMANAY STREET PARTY and DAY EXPLORATION
We start the day exploring the area with a visit to the Kelpies, the largest horse sculpture in the world and a local hike plus a walk up and around Arthur's Seat, an extinct volcano 15 minutes walk away from the city centre.
We then have lunch in the city and explore the area around the castle before joining the party as the sun sets mid-afternoon.
Princes Street welcomes the merrymakers to one of the greatest events on the planet (and we mean it!).
Set beneath the spectacular backdrop of Edinburgh Castle, dance the night away at the Concert in the Gardens featuring incredible live music, entertainment, DJs, giant screens, and outdoor bars.
As the bells strike midnight, admire the world-famous Edinburgh Hogmanay Midnight Fireworks on the castle ramparts.
1st JANUARY 2022 - THE LOONY DOOK
Loony Dook
We watch crazy revellers take a dunk in the freezing Forth, with the iconic Forth Bridges as a backdrop. Don't worry, we will only watch them unless you want to join :-)
We head home when we are good and ready.
