About the Event
Visit the hidden side of Dartmoor, to an Instagram famous creepy forest, deep valleys and incredible gorge views!
Dartmoor has a lot more to offer than Tors and wild ponies, although we will definitely see both.
Come with us on this fabulous trip for hikes in the fresh air where you will have time to take pictures of rivers, Tors, ponies, waterfalls, valleys, bridges and a castle.
The trip includes breakfast, a tent and full travel from London and back.

LUGGAGE
Please bring no more than a backpack, plus a sleeping bag and sleeping mat. You may leave things on the bus.

On Friday we eat at a service station, on Saturday we will find a takeaway meal
WILD CAMPING
Wild camping in England is not permitted, so we will have to be sneaky.
We will set up camp late, leave early and leave no trace.
We will do our best to find a shower, but if we can't find anywhere for a proper wash, we will have access to jolly cold rivers :-)
ITINERARY
Friday
6 pm meet and drive to our first camping location
Saturday
Camping breakfast with options of tea, coffee, porridge, bacon, eggs and bread
Dart Valley and Wistman's Wood circular walk
Absolutely stunning walk with Tors, Dart River, Waterfall Creeks and incredible views.
Wistman's Wood is an amazing and beautiful group of stunted oak trees growing among granite boulders. The wood is famous for its twisted and weathered dwarf trees, covered in mosses and lichens.
TECHNICAL NOTE:
Distance: 10 miles / 16 km
Total Ascent: 300 meters / 1000 feet
Difficulty: Moderate - some steep inclinations
Length: 6 hours
Dinner after the hike then set up camping

COMMUNICATION
A WhatsApp group will be set up a few days before the trip where the final details will be given to you. Keep checking your messages on Meetup for the link to the group
ATTENTION:
1 - Refunds are not possible even if you fall ill with COVID. Please make sure you have travel insurance before the trip starts so you can recover any loss.
Please do not attend if you are feeling unwell.
2 - It is your responsibility to ensure you check messages on this event and private messages sent to you before the trip starts and up to the morning of the trip.
On occasions, meeting location, time and other details might have to be changed and the event could also be cancelled last minute in case of extreme weather or other unexpected events.
3 - As with any road trips, there is a chance of heavy traffic, accidents and break-downs which could force us to skip parts of the trip, or stop it completely. We will do our best to make your day better, and of course to avoid any of these, but we expect your understanding on these occasions.
