Cheddar Gorge (Canyon) & Cheddar Cheese - hike and day trip
Time & Location
About the Event
Length: 9 miles - 13 kilometres circular walk
Total Ascent: 500 metres
Who needs Grand Canyon? At almost 400ft (122m) deep and 3 miles long, this is England’s largest canyon, and with its weathered crags and pinnacles, one of our most spectacular natural sites.
It plays host to a varied community of specialised plants and wildlife, many of which you’ll get to spot on this exhilarating circular walk. And of course, we will do a quick stop to buy some cheddar cheese from its original place of birth if the shop is open.
Trip cost includes return travel on a minibus and hike in the Cheddar Gorge!
How gorgeous! We meet at the agreed time, drive for 2.5 - 3 hours to Cheddar Gorge where we hike for 5 hours then return home. We will make a stop at a service station for toilet and food supplies.
Hiking fee £20
Minibus travel £48
If you want to travel in our minibus, please add both thickets to your basket
The fee is non-refundable, but you may resell and we can try to find someone to take your place.
A visit to the caves is not included. You may opt to skip part of the trail to visit the caves.
WHAT TO BRING:
Sturdy shoes for the hike, preferably a hiking shoe, otherwise good trainers;
Weather appropriate clothes, including waterproofs if there is a chance of rain;
Packed lunch and snacks.

9 pm This is a long day out, so it is best to not have any plans for afterwards to avoid disappointment.
A WhatsApp group will be set up a few days before the trip where the final details will be given to you. Keep checking your messages on your email account including the spam box for the link to the group.
1 - It is your responsibility to ensure you check messages on this event and emails sent to you before the trip starts and up to the morning of the trip.
Make sure the email we have for you is one that you actually check often and check your spam box.
On occasions, meeting location, time and other details might have to be changed and the event could also be cancelled last minute in case of extreme weather or other unexpected events.
2 - As with any road trips, there is a chance of heavy traffic, accidents and break-downs which could force us to skip parts of the trip, or stop it completely. We will do our best to make your day better, and of course to avoid any of these, but we expect your understanding on these occasions.
