Autumn colour is Winkworth’s chief glory, and as the surrounding countryside assumes its wash of russet, copper and gold, its hillside takes on the more potent livery of Chinese mountains and New England forests.

Experience a pallet of golds, browns, coppers, bronzes and reds – a treasure trove of colour that reflects in the ripples of the lake.

This hike will start at Milford Station and end at Godalming, taking us through beautiful villages and countryside views, a cute church, with the arboretum right at centre stage.

There are no strenuous hills except one at the arboretum

This hike is likely to be very, very muddy. Choose your shoes wisely.

Travel is not included in the fee

We will travel by train and you will buy your ticket along with others on the day to get the group save discount.

You can buy your tickets alone or meet us at Milford station if you prefer.

Meet at Waterloo Station under the clock

10 am

Please be mindful that the trains run every hour, so we cannot wait for latecomers.

Return to London at around 9 pm. Return time can't be guaranteed so don't make plans for after the trip to avoid disappointment.

WHAT TO BRING:

- £14.50 in cash for train tickets

- Strong walking or hiking shoes that you don't mind getting muddy

- Backpack for your things

- Plenty of water

- Packed lunch and snacks (there are coffee shops and an M&S at Waterloo station)

- Waterproof jacket

Please note that autumn colours have reached their peak at the end of October and from November the colours will be less dramatic, yet still a beautiful walk.
